Message from President, AHPE

ACADEMY OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATORS, INDIA

Promoting academic excellence through faculty & leadership development to ensure competent health workforce

Welcome to NCHPE 2017

The annual conference of the Academy of Health Professions Educators, India

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the ninth National Conference of the Academy of Health Professions Educators (AHPE) of India – the NCHPE 2017 being hosted by Jorhat Medical College, Assam with support from Directorate of Medical Education, Training & Research, Government of Assam from 9-11 November 2017. This is particularly so since this is happening in the North-East of India and so we expect that the conference will be a harbinger of change by building the capacity of the faculty working in the medical colleges as well as other allied health sciences colleges in the region so that they would be in a position to produce competent job-ready graduates who can lead health care teams to deliver quality health care.

This year, the AHPE in consultation with stakeholders from the North-East India, and keeping in mind global trends as well as the needs of faculty to meet the challenges associated with change, the theme of the conference is appropriately identified as:

 “Faculty development: Expanding horizons…fostering change”

To ensure that this capacity-building of faculty from the region (and of course the rest of India) takes place, we have planned 14 Pre-conference workshops by renowned resource persons from all over India and abroad.

The conference will provide unique opportunities for experience sharing and networking with expert faculty, opportunities for showcasing your educational innovations and participate in small-group discussions to deliberate on certain key issues in Health Professions Education that influence health care delivery so as to come up with consensus and policy recommendations.

Being a rare and unique opportunity to gain from participation in the events organized in structured formats aimed at maximizing learning , we solicit your patronage and goodwill to attend in large numbers to get illuminated and enlightened so that upon return to your home institution you will become better equipped to bring in the necessary changes to improve the quality of education in your respective home institutions.

Looking forward to meeting you in person for a mutually rewarding learning experience at the NCHPE 2017.

With Warm Regards and Best Wishes

Prof Dr. Thomas V Chacko

President AHPE
